Looks like a NASA control center. Are you driving that takeup reel directly with a stepper motor?

both the feed reel and the takeup reel are direct drives with those
little steppers. I have the current set at 1.5 amps, which is the
limit of the drives, and I have them running at 3200 microsteps. I
will probably change to servos on the next version, The capstan at
the bottom is a servo.
